Recently, it has been my great privilege to lead some community fishing sessions on West Hoe Pier on the behalf of Plymouth Fishing and Seafood Association. We are now going to take that a little further, inviting participants on the next scheduled sessions to photograph and record their catches and the species that they catch. These will be placed on a spreadsheet below, which will gradually be populated as the season goes on. At the end of the season, the two lucky anglers with the most species will each win a prize very kindly donated by Kiddy Wholesale of Torquay.

Any of our participants can, if they like, download the Fish Trace - Fishing Logbook app from Google Play. Just click on the icon to be taken to a preview of the App.

It is always nice to see people enjoying their fishing, especially when they are very new to the sport. The LRF (Light Rock Fishing) rods are proving popular, catching fish even when the fishing is hard.

For about a year now, I have been working with Plymouth Fishing & Seafood Association teaching local children (and others) how to fish. I thought that it would be nice to video some of the tactics that we have tried out, just in case it was useful to other anglers wanting to give the pier a go or for people who might be curious about what was involved, especially if they live in Plymouth and were thinking about trying sea fishing themselves.
All the best
